Abstract

The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) and the Committee “Justice for the Victims of Nazi Military Persecution” (PK) invited to a joint event on Sunday, 29 May 2022. During a walking tour through Vienna’s city center, sites of Nazi military justice were visited and insights into the workings of this criminal justice system were provided through short presentations. Afterwards, in the course of a panel discussion, achievements were discussed and, last but not least, open points with regard to research and commemoration were debated.     Mathias Lichtenwagner lebt in Wien, hat Politikwissenschaft studiert, arbeitet in der Abteilung  für Restitutionsangelegenheiten  der Israelitischen  Kultusgemeinde Wien  im  Bereich Kunstrückgabe und Erb:innensuche; darüber hinaus arbeitet er zu Wehrmachts-justiz, Vergangenheitspolitik, Erinnerungskultur und Rechtsextremismus.   • Philipp Rohrbach

    Philipp Rohrbach, MA, Historiker, Studium der Geschichte, Slawistik und Zeitgeschichte an der Universität Wien, wo er gerade an seine Dissertation arbeitet.

    Seit 2010 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Wiener Wiesenthal Institut für Holocaust-Studien tätig, darüber hinausgehend Mitarbeiter bzw. Kurator diverser Ausstellungen und Projekte, u.a. recollecting (MAK, 2008), Goldscheider (LBI NY, 2009), Kampf um die Stadt (Wien Museum, 2009), SchwarzÖsterreich. Die Kinder afroamerikanischer Besatzungssoldaten (Volkskundemuseum Wien, 2016), Ungarisch-jüdische Zwangsarbeit in Wien 1944/45 (VWI, 2015-2018), Lost in Administration. Die Geschichte der Kinder afroamerikanisch Gis in Österreich (Universität Salzburg, 2015-2017), gegenwärtig gemeinsam mit Mag. Adina Seeger und Tom Juncker, MA für das Projekt Austrian Heritage Archive (Verein Gedenkdienst/VWI) zuständig. Forschungsinteressen: Österreichisch-Jüdische Emigration in die USA und nach Palästina/Israel, Oral History, Kinder des Krieges, Rassismus nach 1945 und Adoption-Studies.
